What I heard about this course is that Mike Buchanan and Scott put it in. I've never been there but again, I heard that two holes go over a main road and some holes are crazy long and have a bad design. Now perhaps I got bad info, perhaps I got correct info, I don't know. Shoot for the shade

I played the first 11 holes two weeks ago. parking can be a pain since hole one is at ranger station. you can park up the hill at the park entrance instead of down the hill at the park lodge when the ranger lot is full, less walking.
Not a beginner course! Very challenging in my opinion. Concrete short and long teepads on most holes, except the pads on holes deep down in the woods are not finished yet. I suggest running out there before the underbrush grows up.
First three holes are good. #1 is open and then you head into the woods. Next you get into a series of holes (2-7) that can be a challenging hike since there really isn't a well-developed path yet (and no signs or map), distances appear to be around 250-330 from short tees. Control is key, don't throw over the hill or you will be sorry. Some distance between holes is a little long, like between 7 and 8. 8 and 9 leave the woods and are downhill along the park entrance road. No real tees on them, you have to find what looks like a tongue-depressor stuck in the ground. 9 is good and long.
10 is a beast. No signs but it must be a 500' tunnel shot through pine trees. It ate my lunch. Thankfully the bar at the lodge has decent chow and a few draft choices. 11 was pretty tough too. The rest of the back nine looked like it was completely wooded. I'll be heading back soon.
Bottom line: challenging wooded course for any player, especially from long tees. Penalties for going over the hill can be severe. Trees everywhere. Feels like one of the toughest courses around with the elevation changes. Far, far tougher (physically and in terms of challenge) than say Flat Rocks in Lancaster or Veterans in Williamstown, WV.
Check it out! It should get better and better as it matures.

Just played it this weekend. I feel once the get everything done it will be a very nice course. Spoke with the lodge about when the course will be finished. Work will be started back this week on finishing all the tee pads and clearing of the brush and ground clutter. Bring bug spray and watch for snakes.

I just Played it this weekend. It's still in its early stages of development. Some of the tee pads are not in yet. The ground clutter is a mess and the weeds of course have gone wild.
Now with that being said it is my understanding talking with the lodge that they are ready to start work on it this week or next. The weather and other projects hinder them from getting to work on it.
Once this corse is done and people start playing to help get paths established and help maintain it look out this is going to be one you will want to play as often as you can.

Decent course. All tee pads in, they're nice sized too, but #5 I think it was is holding water. One nice downhill bridge installed. Long walks between 1 & 2, 7 & 8, and 9 & 10. Parking sucks, can't believe they started where they did (Ranger station, about 12 slots maybe, 2 taken by ranger trucks and 3 by a dirt pile). I'm sure they had to work w/what the parks gave them. Kinda like Great Seal w/a mature woods and at this time of year, not much understory/shule to deal w/. Does seem to have long concrete tee pads at each hole (we played shorts). Saw some B pin placements too, not sure if they're on all holes or not. A few blind tee's, nice use of some elevation. A few dinks (unlike Great Seal, they're spread around both nines). One or two long ones. 10 seems the longest, maybe 500'. Overall good course, but not near a decent sized city, it may not get a lot of play. Like Rotary, tournament HQ will be far from #1. Good potential, still needs some steps possibly between 17 & 18, some at the ends of the bridge, maybe some clearing for summer play, but well designed and a great canvas. 3.5 of 5 for now. Played pretty well after the rain too...Thanks for the info. guys.
