So Jeff,
What is the status as far as getting the course changed around a bit? It appears everyone is in agreement to move the baskets and the course around a bit but you. As the "TD" so called you should be responding to what the majority says. I mean you ever wonder why you do not get any support from Chillicothe disc golfers at your events? I just would like to see a change of the guard at least at OUC for right now to have the liberty to move things around. I know myself and several others are to the point where we are so frustrated with the course design and upkeep of OUC. We need change and whether you want to or not it is eventually coming. Building more courses and designing more does not help but put more work on top of yourself and others that are frustrated with the upkeep of the course. Please, just get out of the rut of not budging and change some things around. Not saying change the whole course over night but just do a few changes here and there. OUC is never going to be a championship course but man it can be a really fun course for pros and beginners alike! If you need any help whatsoever in changing it around I would be more than happy to help just to get a change of things. I mean look at hole three now. Yeah its long which I love but its naked now with the ash trees gone. Lets mix it up a bit. There is just some prime land that we are not even using that could be beneficial for the game. Give me a call or text if you want help to change stuff around a bit? 740.656.0272

A few questions. Which holes would you change? Where would the new pin placement be? Would you want to change tee pad locations? I don't play the course much.

I have a ton of ideas however it shouldnt just be yours, or Dons, or my ideas but collectively as a whole we should all have input on where the new locations and pins should be. Disc golf I think was never meant to be like a goverment body however yes we still need to have at least one person making the final decision; however that does not mean they dont listen or not want to make changes. Out of the 7 to 12 guys that I know of they want change to happen, and no I did not vote for freaking Obama... Some of the ideas may seem really stupid but at least consider it because the last thing we need is to stab a knife in disc golf around Chillicothe. There is just so much we can do to promote the sport that we are not even tapping into. For example I talked to the Paints 2 seasons ago about doing a disc golf demonstration out at the park one night. Imagine a exhibition of throwing power of several guys chucking plastic over the walls at Paint Stadium. That would get kiddos and parents excited about it! Sorry back on topic, but just be open to what people bring to the table. I have been wrestling it around my head of doing a tournament that is free of charge maybe everyone throws in 5 bucks for pizza or something like that and we have everyones or get everyones idea about pin and tee location. When we have that compose a course map and have each of the peoples ideas on the map pin location and tee pad. When everyone plays the round they vote on their two favorite locations. When we get the information back collectively gain I think we all sit down and discuss changing the pin and tee locations with might I mention alternate tee locations. all 12 or 15 of us that play together have played championship courses here in Ohio and especially out of state. we have all seen enough courses to know what a good shot and bad shot might look like. With this being said this would at least give everyone the opportunity to say they had a hand in designing the new course whether their idea got picked or not. Were all adults lets act like it! I mean something just needs to change OUC is boring! and not just boring but it is getting destroyed by growth and fallen trees. Not even Jimmy can get up and down that course...nevermind yes he can him and his oxygen...love that dude! Just something to think about but again it shouldnt be about one person making the decision but collectively as a whole we make the decisions together! I mean ever wonder why we have never had a sit down conversation with everyone that plays. Its unorganized and when there is no organization the sport is eventually going to die here in Chillicothe. Especially with summer coming up I think this would be a great idea to change the entire course but doing it little by little not all at once. With the tee pads goes I understand OUC doesnt want concrete but honestly there are ways to get the concrete flush with the ground so mowers will not worry about it. Then theres the trimming honestly if we told them right up front that the last saturday of the month we all get together and help out with cleaning up the course and trimming and weed eating why wouldnt they say yes to it? Even if they do there is enough concrete sidewalks around that we can use those which I use those as my tee. Lots of ideas however nothing happening or being done about everyones ideas and dreams for OUC. Also if we pitched it right OUC officials would or should not care that we are making course improvements. Who plays disc golf casually? Teenagers and pot heads! Why woudlnt they want to recruit their name of their college at a good disc golf course! Look at Hocking that course is very nice! And if I was a 17 yr old kid opps I mean pot head I would be thinking about going to Hocking just because it is a familiarity! Just ideas...sorry folks for the novel...go team!

First let me say, I ain't nobody. I'm not the guy who can get this done. I've no authority at OUC. Second I am always in favor of looking at changing a course around but it is not cool to give ideas and not be willing to do the physical labor (not accusing you of doing that, just saying). There are proper channels to go through and hoops to jump through. The land belongs to OUC so they have a say in it. Permission needs to be granted from the land owner. At Paint Creek I'm hoping to get three new holes in but I first had to go to the Parks management and get their approval. Me and three representatives from the Park walked the areas I wanted the extra holes to go in at. Never tick these people off because they can yank the baskets out of the ground. It has happened in the past at other parks. My thought for you is to get with Jeff and give him your suggestions. I don't know who put the course in the ground and I don't know who is the guardian of the OUC course. I've always assumed it was Jeff. I hope this helps. I personally don't throw OUC much but I wish you the best in getting this done. I'm thinking the first step is to get with Jeff and show him your ideas. The ball is back in your court.

hey guys .. this is greg I just wanted to add a couple of thing to this topic.... for you that don't know me I moved to Kentucky about 3 years ago.. I lived in the Chillicothe area and was playing ouc as soon as it was able to be played... before that we only had great seal state park .. (try learning to play disc golf there)..ous was set up to be beginners course plus for ouc students but open to everyone to play... I know most of us have played " championship courses" but I used to watch families and beginners play this course just for fun because it was in town , quick and easy to play.. so don't forget them as you make you decisions on changes .. so think about this.. why not do some fund raisers and just add collars so you can have alternate pin placements or different tee pads also ous has to approve everything so don't forget to get permission for any changes... as for fund raisers we have in the past done... one disc tourneys and glow rounds and random draw doubles why not make a few dollars go to course improvements .... just a couple of ideas for an ex area player........ greg

Greg, we have thought about collars, however, again we are trying to just get Jeff involved....ouc will never be a championship course, nor are we trying to make it one, but just trying to get freedom to make changes and course improvement s, such as trimming, having a course work day, and yes move the tees and baskets....I believe that we all know and understand that families and beginners play this course....so any changes we make they will be with in reason. Great point though Greg!
