Saturday April 11. Be there by 12:00 noon!
rough draft of safari course for the day: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1. New Tee to Target #1. tee is at corner of bldg on concrete.
2. Tee 2 to object target. target is to land disc on machine that is surrounded by the brick half-circle wall. Some concrete sidewalk will be OB, some might be made exception.
3. New Tee to Target #4. tee is concrete near existing tee 3.
4. New Tee to Target #5. tee is on a certain sidewalk section near back corner of library.
5. Tee 6 to Target #7.
6. 7. 8. 9. These four holes are regular layout, but play as worst drive.
10. Tee 12 to Target #13.
11. Tee 14 to Target #18. (with a mando restriction TBA)
12. New Tee to Target #15. Tee is TBA, likely on concrete.
13. Tee 16 to Portable Target (Discatcher?) located a few hundred feet past existing target, in an "island"
14. New Tee to Target #17. New Tee is longer, little more elevated.
15. New Tee to Practice Target. Tee might be placed on top of hill near parking lot.
Spotters will be used to ensure proper flow and safety. The regular OB areas will apply.
That's it. Just 15 holes. We'll play 'em once.
Here's the plan (for April 11)
It's $5 to play, and all that $5 goes to the charity, a fallen soldiers fund to help families that have lost a mom or dad in the war. And there is a $2 optional ace fund.
At noon, I'll random draw partners. It's one round of random draw partners. Shotgun start. Will try to stick to 2 teams per hole.
Then, a few minutes after everyone's done, I'll let anyone choose their own partner and play it again, for another $5. No extra charge for the ace fund, if you already paid the first round. And... even if you didn't play the first round, you can still play the second round, but you need to donate $10 to the charity. I'll run the second round as sequential start, everyone starting on the first hole. When I've sent all players out and no other team is waiting, that will close the second round.
Once all players are back from second round, I'll dish out some prizes. It's not much, just some unused plastic that i have in my basement, and whatever else I can get people to bring for donations. So.... if you have something you think would make a nice prize, bring it. It can be a box of cracker jacks, or whatever. Bring something from work, or stop by Kroger in the morning, I don't care, just find something to bring and everyone will give you a round of applause for it. =)
It's informal. It's fun. It's clean out your closet time. It's for the families that we can never repay, but we can give a little.
The charity, chosen by jeff boyer, your lancaster safari host, will be given the money we raise, to help families in the chillicothe and lancaster areas.
The ace fund will be awarded evenly to all aces hit. If no aces, then the ace fund is split. half will carry over to the next safari (the one in lancaster in may), and half will be awarded by CTP open to all players present at the end of the first round. the CTP winner will receive the 50% after the second round, in the event that no one makes an ace on second round. =)

Thanks to Marc for setting up the safari round. It was really a blast. Looking forward to the next one and hoping some more Chilli locals can make it out. Also I went back today and threw from the top of the hill other side of the fence behind 16 basket (about where Jeff and I threw from in the tourney) to the island green. Man what a great hole. We should set it up for Sunday doubles sometime for sure.

Yeah, that was a lot of fun. I'd like to do it again. I might not have time to run it in June; not sure of work schedule yet. And the other month would be August (May and July, and maybe September are for Flatrocks). Of course, someone else could run it in June, if I can't. It's simple. It's for a good cause. And, yes, it's a blast.
To the others... Cappy, Jim, Lee, Spud, Jeff. Great fun, guys.
As for the island hole on a Sunday... that's an awesome idea. With a portable target, you could spice it up, like a combo hole (3 to 4 maybe) and a new hole (the island hole) then a long tee back to 17. That would be cool. Go for it.
Jeff will post a recap later. Spread the word and travel up to Lancaster for the next Safari!
