I was up at Hocking College today regestering classes for next quarter and i saw a couple Disc baskets around the school...
Does anyone know how many holes they have, Where Number 1's basket is, or if the course is even any good?

YO i just got in contact with a guy that goes to Hocking and he was going to look into the status of the course....It seems that someone who attended there helped put the course and left without finishing the project is what I assume Anyways hopefully he gets back to me soon and we can see whats up with it! Maybe we can move the existing baskets to make it playable...When I went there I found lioke 2 holes and couldn't find the rest so I gave up since the school was closed that day and there was noone around to ask about the remainder if the course.

I played the course a few months back. I think there are 12 holes. Two (or three) are in the middle of the campus, then go across the road road and hike up through the woods a decent ways. It is pretty easy to follow after you get up the hill and find 3 (or 4). The last hole comes out of the woods past a firefighters course and then throws over a pond in the front of the school. It is a hike but a fun course.

I have played H.C. several times lately. I recommend it HIGHLY . The walk to get to Hole 3 is across the road and up a hill that is almost life threatening for an old guy like me. Although , after recovering from the walk up the hill, the wooded shots are by far some of the best disc golf holes in Central Ohio. There are only 12 holes, and I wish you luck figuring out where hole 12 is, But I'll try to explain. After playing11 follow the path out of the woods,The fire fighter training facility will be on your left, at the parking lot go right to the railroad tracks , go left on the tracks to the edge of the pond, The tee sign was missing the last time I was there ,but the tee is at the corner of the parking lot, just before the pond. Again, I must say, The wood shots are worth the drive, alone. About hole 10 you are throwing off a cliff, straight down to the basket. Over throwing is not an option, for you will be repelling down into a gorge to retrieve you disc.

i have recently played this course like three weeks ago. the lay out of the course needs major work. although the wooded holes are some of the toughest shots i have ever had. holes 7 through 10 are on top of each to the point were the need re-done. i would like to see this course become a full 18. But it will take the Disc golf community to come together to make this happen. there are no cards for directions at the college rec. center. and there many broken tee signs. But if you can navigate to hole three across from road. you will have some very interesting shots in the woods. Bring boots because it gets muddy.

Info on the Hocking Course, Hi, I am the Coordinator of the Course at Hocking College, I took over the maintenance of the course late in the fall of 07, since then we have been making changes to the course for the better hopefully. If you played the course then compared to now you would have defiantly noticed some major changes. So far we have been focused on getting the course back to a playable state, by removing under brush and massive amounts of multifloria rose. We have begun to rearranged holes and fairways to allow better flow and prevent over lap. Last fall we got the funding for 6 new baskets which will be planted in the upcoming weeks to make a full 18. Temporary signage is being put up this week to help with navigating the course until the full layout is completed. On a sad note several of our exsiting tee signs were stolen this past week along with some other course vandalizing. We plan to get these replace with temporary signs too. Some other things to let you guys know about: - We host a friendly random doubles night on Mondays nights currently at 5pm. We meet at whole 12 located next to the student center for this event. - we have a write up of the course with photos by one of my student staff on our blog hockingcollegeoutdoorpursuits.blogspot.com/2008/08/disc-golf-course.html- Course maps are located in the student center, but they are not the greatest and sometime the front desk staff doesn't restock them. - here is a link to a map of campus www.hocking.edu/Media/Website%20Resources/documents/admissions/campus_maps/Campus_Map_V20070827J.pdf the course start next to building #3(Student Center) on the side toward building #4( Shaw Lab), the Tee sign for whole 1 was stolen , so all that remains currently is the 4x4 post. - Our course is very hilly and wooded, it is built on a reclaimed strip mine site and can be muddy and wet after a rain, in the summer it is hot, humid and buggy. Again it is very rugged so be prepared it. Hopefully this help you enjoy our course a little more. Let me know if you have any more questions or concerns, Tim
