A buddy and I will be heading your way from the Cincinnati area in mid May. We've never played any courses in the area, but have heard some good things, particularly about Pike Lake and Great Seal. We were thinking of camping at Pike and playing that for a day (Friday). On Saturday, we were thinking of driving to Great Seal for a couple rounds and then maybe back to Pike or elsewhere. Would you recommend hitting up the other courses or enjoying our time on these 2 courses? Looking for seclusion and a good time. Don't want to be rushed and feel like we have to push ourselves and fly through every course in the area, but don't want to miss something if it's worth it. What do the locals recommend? Also, how is the camping at Pike? How about Seal? Is either better than the other? Anything we should look out for besides black bear and racoons? Are the cabins up there nice or is a tent just as good? Thanks! Look forward to coming to your neck of the woods and enjoying your courses. Valet

It will surprise no one that I would recommend Paint Creek. Pike Lake, Great Seal and Paint are the three best courses. I think Paint is the most scenic and just as hard as Great Seal. Pike would be the easiest. Pike is the hilliest, Paint the flatest. The camp at Paint would be cleaner. Pike does have cabins and they are very nice. Don't know about cost. If you want a guide give me a call. Another course about an hour away is Hocking Hills. well worth the drive. Flatrocks up in Lancaster is a cool course. Don #29974

Thanks for the info. Paint is certainly in consideration for playing and camping now. I will let you know when we pin down the date. Looks like June 8 or 9 right now.

You might want to throw in Rocky Fork (pun intended).

I read on DGCR that Paint Creek is hard to follow without tee signs. Is that an accurate statement? And I learned that SidearmDon designed it...now I understand his post above. (I gave you a thumbs up on your review, by the way...not sure why so many gave you a thumbs down.) As I read more, I see that someone is working on the tee signs. Any idea when these will go in?

Thanks for the thumbs up. Yes the tee signs are suppose to be done this month. We have the money, waiting for the designer to finish. If you have thrown many courses you should have no problem following the course. Maybe two holes difficult to find but I think it flows nicely. And as always, I'm available to be a guide. The "review" I gave you is an accurate review of the courses in this area. Paint, Pike and Great Seal are courses worth throwing. My phone number is in several places but if you can't find it call 614-395-1959 and maybe that guy could help ya. ;D

Thank you for the info, and I will certainly look you up when we hit the area. Got a question, looking side to side, is anyone around, is it ok to haul a 6 pack of beer in my bag and drink some beers while playing? I'm not a chuck my can in the fairway (way too old for that) or get all drunk'd up and can't walk, but this is a vacation. I want to go out and drink some beers and throw some discs. I can be discreet if needed, but if they have cops at every hole....

Nobody will be checking your bag but don't do it in the open. You should have no problem with the courses mentioned.
