For the latest start time, see the last post in this thread.
With other more important duties to tend to during the last couple of months, our resident meteorologist/forester/biologist Matt Young asked his humble and loyal assistant to announce the following:
Daylight Saving Time begins Sunday, March 11 @ 2am
That means there's enough evening hours to restart the Flatrock's doubles on March 14th.
On March 14th it gets dark at 8:05, that should allow for a 5:15 p.m. start time for doubles. That is over two hours to get it completed, even if we need a CTP at the end. Of course, it won't start until 5:30 in true Frisbee fashion, but anyone showing up later than 5:15 would be wise to call ahead to TD Hunt/Detroit....
Seven months of evening disc golf, woohoo.
Nothing's changed, same rules (for now-changes will be posted on the course board in writing and probably here too):
All are welcome
3 bucks entry-continuing the tradition of the cheapest dubs in the world.
1 buck CTP (for a disc)
Women compete at no charge
200 buck ace fund (must be split w/partner- we have at least one full ace fund, we maintain up to 3 full ones)
Seeded random draw/best shot doubles style, TD determines who's seeded-top playa's are seeded
NEW RULE THIS YEAR: Mando on hole one. "Reinstating the integrity of the hole." No more going through the woods. Applies to Sunday dubs too and future tourny's. From the PDGA rulebook: "Mandatory: An object or objects that the disc must pass in a designated manner on its way to the hole. A mandatory functions to limit the allowable path the disc may take to the hole." See www.pdga.com/files/documents/PDGA_Rules_of_Play_2011.pdf in section 800 "Definitions" on page 3. Not sure if we'll "unwind" or set up a drop zone, feel free to chime in w/your preferences. I prefer to unwind, but that can really add up the score too... the mando will be just past the hole in the woods, so the trees at the corner of the fairway are still in play.
Volunteer TD's always welcome.
Come huck some plastic.
