Does anyone play at Glacier Ridge Disc Golf Course in Dublin, and why are thier no tournaments scheduled there, that I could find? It seems like it would be a good tournament course with two tee boxes and two pin locations.

My .02
With the exception of the few holes in the woods, it is the same hole again, and again, and again.

Yes, I somewhat agree the middle of the course is a little repeatious, but I believe their is 7 or 8 holes either in or coming in or going out of the woods and also a bridge hole with a huge tree to go around and another hole with trees surrounding the basket and both are challenging. So I guess at least someone who has organized a tournment before could do one for charity/non-sanctioned or something. Just an idea.

It could deal with being in a metro park. I know they are unable pay out cash on park land. Blendon has the same issue as its part of the same columbus metro park. Its a fun enough course but it wouldn't do well for tournaments. The scores would be crazy low (you would see AM1 players shooting 10 down or better) even from the long tees.
Plus if you play it in the summer you have to wear long pants to protect yourself from the tick infestations.

there was talk last year of a benefit tournament being run there, the course gets alot of rec play but very little play from tournament type folk. all of the things ian and craig said are accurate. and we have other courses and a packed schedule already, but im sure if someone decided to run something there, people would show up. whoever manages that park is real picky too, they will kick you out if it has rained and the ground is even the slightest bit wet.

I went to play yesterday, and the course was closed due to wet conditions. So, I asked a ranger when it will open back up and he said when we get several dry days and the sun can dry up the course. Also he said they only close the course in the winter and spring when it is really wet, never in the summer, and as a fellow Disc Golfer he said they are trying to prevent poor playing conditions, like it is right now at Griggs. I ask about tournaments and he said if someone calls them and said there would be approx. 72 players coming out on a Weekend day (probably during the summer) they would have no problem. I have never set up a tournament but if someone with experience runner one would like to... he gave me his card and the number to call and setup. 614-216-8859. I agree that this is no where near the most challenging course in Columbus area, but its a different course to try out and if it flops then never do it again but if it is a hit, it could be one of the tournaments we look forward to play year after year.
Thanks for your input. Just trying to do my part.
