I thought I would add a thread to keep updates on the course and for concerns about the state of Flatrocks DGC

Whenever course improvements do start I wouldn't mind seeing 4x4's in the front of tee boxes! This would keep the boxes from being the size of a baseball diamond beyond the actual line. This might also help a little with the wear and tear! If the club purchased the wood and pins I wouldn't mind putting them in! Don't know if these would be considered "permanent structures" or not!?! Just a thought!!

I still have a stockpile of treated 4x4's. If the club needs them for teepads or whatever.

Not real big on the 4x4 tee demarcations. Great seal has something similar, it becomes a trip hazard IMO. Although it DOES keep you behind the line! But I'm down for a good calorie burn, lemmo know. we can put gravel down effectively any time now....

Not sure what is in the plans for tee pads besides mulch, but I would suggest 411. That is 57 limestone with dust mixed in similar to berm material. It would do wonders to shape up eroding tee pads as you can spread it to the desired depth and level, and tamp it. It would work well in conjunction with the 4x4's if that is the plan. The stuff packs like concrete when it gets wet and gets a good amount of traffic on it. I think it would work well on it's own, but it can also just be used as a base if mulch is desired for a top coat.

Wanted to thank those that helped me with the installation of the tee pads this weekend. Gracia's to Floyd, Robert the Rustler, Jason Bode, Talmadge, Hunt and Detour. I spoke with the Park Director and he's going to check them out and hopefully give the thumbs up for the rest of them. Shouldn't be a problem. Thanks again.

Got the OK from the parks to move forward with the tee pads. Since then we've gotten the rest of them delivered and we moved them to the holes Monday evening. We're going to be working on installing them this Saturday, May 2nd at 10am. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Bring gloves, rakes strong backs and pick-up trucks....

^^^ Gotta rest when you can... Have another work day planned for this Sunday, May 17th at 10am. Hope to get all the pads done but depends on the number of bodies. Maybe Tarman will join us. We have a couple of boxes to build on #2 and #8 also. Much thanks to Neil P, Hunt R, Matt Y and Jason B for last go round. Special props to Ken McCray for dessert.

I have to admit tees are pretty nice all leveled when they are dry! Just one question though, how can the Parks let you put in the railroad ties and not concrete? They are just as permanent and are gonna leave the same indentation as a slab would leave if they have to be taken out (knock on wood)! Just wondering, seems a little odd.

Zack no need to knock on wood! The land owner was out there yesterday after we finished up. He said he has no problems with the work that was accomplished. The parks dept. are managers of the land, not the owner. He also wants to put a trail in from right of the bulllentin board/through the over/vine growth behind tee box #1...down behind #2 basket back to one of the main trails to Flatrocks. He hopes it will help keep the nature/dog walkers from cutting across #9 and #11 fairways, to get back there.
