So I own 200 acres on sr 41 between greenfield and bainbridge. We have been running harescrambles for 10 years and music festivals for 4 years. Recently we have been installing zip lines and by next summer we will have an 18 hole disc golf course. The course will be private but we will have several open to public days and also think about a small series for next fall. YOu can visit www.humboldthills.com and view some pics of the property. But I have questions. we are to the point in disc golf where we have numerous options for courses. I would like to appeal to a specialized group of more advanced players. But also don't want to run off the newbies. So I was thinking about setting up a tighter, longer course with some serious elevation changes. I mean I have some ravines here that drop off over 150'. Since we have been racing here for several years, the woods floor is very clear, so you won't be hunting disc' for hours, which really makes the options limitless here. So in short, I know what I would like to see in a more difficult course, but I am pretty new to this sport and need some input on what people want. I will say that when I do something, I do it right. In a cpl years this will be a PDGA course with big tourny's. I have been helping alot lately at the paint creek course with don, and he will be helping me set up the course, but the more input the better. thanks jay

- No duplicate holes - A clearly defined fairway on every hole - Fairness to rightys as well as leftys - As for length i wouldnt make any hole under 200' - Other than that the sky is the limit on design - A good person to talk to would be Johnny Sias he has built some outstanding courses in my opinion

On top of the righty, lefty thing! I am guessing 10 holes from 290-330, 4 holes 400-430, 2 holes 500+, 2 holes about 220.

I TOTALLY agree with Mr. Ortman on contacting Johnny Sias on how to help on the design. He has two courses on his property alone that can't compare to anything else I have played WORLD CLASS! My course must have's (as well as rortman's suggestions) -Gotta make sure you have good tee pads -A good option is alternate pin placements (sleeves in ground that baskets can slide in and out of) to help mix it up every once and a while -Also a good way to appeal ALL levels of players is to have at least 2 tee pads one in a longer position one in shorter position (some even have 3 sets of pads) Blue tees=Long, Red tees=Middle, White tees=Short If you want to just see what the best courses are the best place to do that is on www.discgolfcourse.review . The review system is great and it's how I look up courses when traveling. If you want to see the courses Johnny has designed visit www.dgcoursereview.com/browse.php and type his name into "Course Designer Name Contains:". Hope this helps some!
