From the very first post in the Frosted link: "Charity to benefit Local Church's food pantry" Coulda been more specific (I think it went to a Baptist church in Carroll, Ohio), but again, it's a charity tourny. Want schwag, go to a non charity tourny, like the H Rat (Not sure if that's for charity or not tho)....and donated (and kicka$$) trophies were someones hard work (ie-charitable contribution). Tell me, do you have a more impressive trophy in your undoubtedly huge trophy collection? If so, it likely came from a non charitable tourny.

the trophies were nice, probly should have been printed on a disc and not a plack if they were not giving away any other disc. Regardless its is best to post that there will be no plastic giving to 1st place only a donated trophey,b4 people travel to your event and become upset that they waisted so much money and time getting there. its simple people come to events xpecting to win @ least 1 disc regardless if it is charity. Tell me did open only recive more than the donated trophey? If you want to see how to run an event without robbing people ,show up @ the harbin rat classic march 15th am only.everyone will get somthing and everyone will be happy .bring your own cold pizza . The trophies were nice, and might've been cooler on a disc, the original (and unposted) intention was to put them on a Flat Rock. I didn't win squat (and that's cool w/me), but putting them on a disc is a good idea....sorry you felt you wasted your time and much money and were robbed in coming, the intent was for all to have a good time. Sometimes that's understandably forgotten....I have no idea what the open guys got as far as cash (hopefully little, since it was a charitable thang), although I understand results (not sure about payout tho) will be posted "soon". If you're playin' disc to "get something", well.....(heh). It's just disc.....not a job. And that's not a good way to get folks to cruise to the Harbin, although if Nick's running it, I might attend....I'll add if you haven't run a tourny, there's a lot involved, whether it's charitable, casual, or an NT. Give it a try sometime, see if you can make everyone happy. It's tough.....no hard feelings on anyone, but the intent was to have fun, if you didn't, then we failed. Although it's possible some came in a slightly improper frame of mind. If you got a first place trophy, congrats, and well done. Consider stepping up a division next tourny....and BTW, if you (meaning anyone) come to my next tourny, don't expect to win a thing. It's for charity. But I will donate much of my time, and money, to run it, and make sure there's some schwag. Schwag that comes directly out of my pocket, and a few others. On a separate point, but ones that's been touched on, I do not like attending big money events (or most payout events for that matter) when the payout is not posted ahead of time. This sport has always been weak about that. Mainly 'cause sponsors/attendee's etc... don't show up 'till just before play begins. So it's hard to say what the payout will be. Unlike ball golf, where huge sponsors have indicated a year or so advance what the payout will be, and the players are known well in advance. At a minimum, I would like to see the "take" and the "payout" after all is done. That's what I call good accounting. It's rarely, if ever, done in disc golf. I don't mind a "volunteer" TD, organization, or whatever getting money to run things and pay the bills necessary to run those events, I'd just like to see things a bit more transparent, even if it's done after the event is over. Enough rambling, that post is too d**n long to read anyhow. Major point, don't go to a charitable event expecting squat, esp. when mulligans are involved. Sorry Jeff,

You should just start your tournament post like that . Ive been to many charitable disc golf events this year and they all gave winners more than donated tropheys. IN fact my wife and i have donated $ to them ,without expecting anything in return . If you just wanted my money maybie you should have posted that you need cash donations . But dont hold a tourny without telling people there will be no plastic ,thats rude. I would pay to play all day 4 charity if you post, all profits and proceeds will be donated to a cause and no one gets squat! but you didnt and niether did the profits . can anyone post the scores? just 5 dollars @ 112 people is 560 bucks ,cant wait to see the math here!

Does anyone know if the winners last year won discs, or just trophies? If they did I would have thought if I would have won I was gonna get a disc this year. It is kinda weird that all that loot went somewhere except charity. I am an LDGA member and would like to see some of the $ go to course improvements (TEES) especially since the Wed. and Sun. dubs are going from $3 to $5!!

And everyone will get a disc in their player pack! I like discs in player packs. Mainly because I view my entry fee as admittance rather than a wager. I think it's cool that I get something for deciding to spend my entertainment dollar on Frisbee. All I get at the movie theater is a stub.
That's what this thread is about isn't it???

I did start the one lid two lid post w/something to that effect. Although I decided to payout a bit if we get over 36 playas. I don't expect to give a lot to the lighthouse, but I know a small payout goes a long way too. Although there's no mulligans involved in that. Keep in mind the tourny was run by a guy who hadn't run one before too. I dunno, I don't expect anything at a charity event, but your point is valid and could be easily addressed on future tournys. I'm also waiting to see the final numbers, it should be a good payout to the church. and ZF, I don't think all the loot went somewhere besides charity, but I could be mistaken. They'll get it posted soon. I think they got plastic last year, although the trophies this year were a bit cooler. Did Floyd make those? He does make good stuff..... To get back on topic tho, sounds like you can't go wrong putting plastic in a players pack. Guys w/lots of discs (oldsters, pros) prolly don't mind either in the sense that most won't cash anyhow (usually). I'll have to admit, I've never given back a players pack disc!

I always give some sort of players pack in the tournaments I run, usually a disc. That way everyone gets something for coming out.
The payout is less that way but it seems to work best.
I was planning on going to this event but something came up and I couldn't make it, I assumed that all the proceeds were going to that church, at least that was my interpretation.
It seems to me if mulligans are involved it's not the same as far the competitive aspect goes, (1 team gets em, another team doesn't) so it's not really a level playing field then.

I play as a pro. So when I go to a tourney I like to see the ams get a disc ,or more as a player package to take home. To most of them it is a good fealing to show friends what they got for going. I like to maybe pick up a new disc to put in my bag, or stack at home. Some champion disc our only put out with a tourney stamp on it So I do like to see them, and the people who are happy to get them.
played again today

Just finally got to reading all this thread and will look into and print out all the concerns that were brought up about the Frosted Flatrocks...
I was unaware that the payouts went like that and no one was receiving plastic. The trophies were not donated either they just simply came out of the payout.... I am a big fan of giving all of the beginners something and a good percentage of the field in other divisions their fair share of plastic excluding the Pro/Open division.
The biggest question I have running through my head is how to fix this OBVIOUS problem after the fact.......
Hope I can make this better.....

mr. hunt i appreciate your concern over the way pay outs were handled, although im guessing your not resonsible for the outcome ,seeing you did not know.
So im not sure if your the person who should make this better but 2 whoever is responsible here are the addresses for both partners who won in intermediate division
Dave Lutz 3338 Harrison Ave Cincinnati Ohio 45211, and Donovan Go 4650 Elmwood Rd Batavia Ohio 45103
